About The Position

The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) is seeking a Transit Procurement Coordinator for its Local Assistance Division. This role involves working with public transit agencies across the state to support transportation services for Nebraskans. The position is integral to enhancing the Nebraska State Transit Program by assisting with the procurement of Public Transit equipment and services, including writing, editing, and overseeing purchasing, specifications, contracts, and inspections. The role also includes preparing and maintaining the NDOT Federal Asset Inventory, Compliance Reviews, Training, Safety Plans, and National Transit Database reporting. An understanding of Federal and State policies is vital for success in this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in urban and regional planning, transportation planning, engineering technology, business, data science, physical sciences, geographic information systems, or a related field, plus three years of related experience.
  • Experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Demonstrated experience with MS Office, specifically Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State Regulations.
  • Knowledge of grant management.
  • Ability to manage time and competing priorities.
  • Ability to learn and apply the principles and concepts of specific agency programs, policies, and operating details to manage grant-funded programs.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to explain complex information to various audiences.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, contract administration, or other appropriate curriculum, plus two years of significantly related work experience, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to the above requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the procurement of Public Transit equipment and services.
  • Write, edit, and oversee Transit Vehicle/Equipment purchasing, specifications, contracts, and inspections.
  • Prepare and maintain the NDOT Federal Asset Inventory.
  • Conduct Compliance Reviews.
  • Manage Training and Safety Plans.
  • Oversee National Transit Database reporting.
