About The Position

Under immediate supervision, attend and complete classroom and field training in operating passenger coaches and streetcars in a safe, courteous and timely manner. This is an unclassified contract position and a temporary position. It will become a regular classified position after successfully completing a 9-week training class. Applicants are encouraged to apply immediately as this position will close when a preset number of qualified applicants have been received.

Requirements

• Completion of tenth grade or higher
• One (1) year of public contact or customer service experience or one (1) year operating medium commercial vehicles, passenger buses or streetcars.
• Twenty-one (21) years of age
• Safe driving record
• Pass background investigation
• Successfully complete periodic physical examinations as required by federal transportation regulations.
• Valid Class "C" Driver License or equivalent from another state by time of application.

Responsibilities

• Attend and complete classroom and field training in operating passenger coaches and streetcars.
• Attend training in passenger coach and streetcar functions, operations and maintenance, departmental requirements, policies and procedures, traffic laws, two-way radio operation, established routes and schedules, defensive driving, safety and emergency practices, public relations and customer service skills, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) requirements and rail certification requirements.
