About The Position

Step into a role that is more than just behind the desk. As a Transit Operations Coordinator, you will split your time between being behind the wheel on airport charters, BC Transit routes and charter buses, and coordinating day to day operations behind the scenes. One day you are on the road supporting passengers face to face, the next you are scheduling charters, supporting staff, handling basic billing and helping keep service running smoothly across the system. This is designed as a progression type role with mentorship from leadership and exposure to scheduling, operations and people management, it is a strong stepping stone into a future supervisory position for someone who wants to grow their career in transit operations.

Requirements

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment
  • Excellent customer service skills and communication abilities
  • Class 2 driver’s license with air brake endorsement, or the willingness to upgrade your license if not already obtained
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule within service hours

Nice To Haves

  • Class 2Q license already obtained (or Class 2 with air brake endorsement)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience in billing, scheduling, and operations support

Responsibilities

  • Driving (approximately 50% in-field): Airport charters, BC Transit buses, Charter buses
  • Providing excellent customer service to passengers and clients
  • Supporting employees in day-to-day operations
  • Coordinating charter bus schedules and communicating with clients
  • Booking charters and supporting service delivery across Prince Rupert
  • Working closely with management in Kitimat and Terrace on operational needs
  • Providing general operations support, including employee support and delivery as needed
  • Completing monthly deposits and other basic billing-related tasks
  • Assisting with scheduling and other administrative functions
  • Maintaining clear, timely communication with management
  • Conducting Safety meetings and participating in employee support
  • Conducting shop inspections and other site checks
  • Adhering to and helping enforce BC Transit policies and procedures
  • Supporting a strong culture of safety and compliance
