About The Position

Finance provides support to Subways Operating divisions by developing budget proposals and D-4 requests, requesting job numbers, monitoring spending against budget, and providing reports to various stakeholders (divisional management, Subways leadership, Capital Programs, C&D, OMB, etc). These positions also support work related to the July and November financial plans, mid-year estimates, year-end variance analyses, budget entry and allocation, organizational charts, and ad hoc requests.

Requirements

  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, public administration, public policy, engineering, engineering technology, economics, architecture, mathematics, physics, computer science, finance, accounting, transportation planning, industrial psychology, urban planning/studies, human resources management, labor relations, operations research, security management or in a related area, or A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience working in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, engineering, in management or methods of analysis, operations research, organization research or program evaluation, personnel or public administration, staff development, employment program planning or administration, security management; or general administration.
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, public administration, public policy, engineering, engineering technology, economics, architecture, mathematics, physics, computer science, finance, accounting, transportation planning, industrial psychology, urban planning/studies, human resources management, labor relations, operations research, security management or in a related area, and one year of full ‐ time satisfactory professional experience working in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, engineering, in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation, personnel or public administration, staff development, employment program planning or administration, security management; or general administration; or A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; and three years of satisfactory full-time experience as described in "1" above.

  • Strong analytical, technical, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in building, analyzing, and interpreting reports and dashboards using Power BI, Microsoft Excel, and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and experience utilizing MTA’s DataLake to access, analyze, and interpret data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex financial and operational information to internal and external stakeholders with varying levels of data knowledge and expertise.
  • Strong presentation and data visualization skills, with the ability to translate data and analysis into clear, concise, and actionable information for diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison to divisions within DOS regarding the budgeting and tracking of materials and contracts, budgeted headcount, hiring, and monthly overtime results.
  • Collaborate daily with peer teams and divisional stakeholders to support financial planning, budget management, and reporting activities.
  • Prepare monthly dashboards and other financial and operational reports and provide timely updates to management and stakeholders.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from the President’s Office and other senior leadership by providing financial analysis, reporting, and supporting data as needed.
  • Provide general administrative and data support to the Division Operations team, including data collection, analysis, reporting, and coordination of financial activities.
