About The Position

Responsible for ensuring on-time performance and optimum equipment utilization. Professionally communicate with Customers, Operators, Dispatchers, and Management team to ensure an effective dispatch operation. This role involves being the primary radio communicator to all drivers, managing incidents/accidents and breakdowns, and ensuring comprehensive understanding and adherence to company and county policies. The position requires demonstrating safety, providing exceptional customer service, and following Union protocol. It is a safety-sensitive job function and requires adherence to Homeland Security opening and closing procedures. The dispatcher must maintain professional relationships, be an open-minded problem solver, and handle multiple, changing priorities while maintaining composure. Key duties include monitoring vehicle status for proper coverage, informing oncoming shifts of important information, and collaborating with office staff for effective communication and cross-training.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate all pertinent information to the next level of management.
  • Serve as the primary radio communicator to all drivers regarding their runs and any situations or concerns that may occur during the day.
  • Communicate all incidents/accidents and breakdowns through dispatch to the necessary departments.
  • Ensure comprehensive understanding of company policies, county policies, and accountability to both.
  • Conduct reasonable suspicion training course.
  • Demonstrate safety and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Follow Union protocol, including seniority guidelines, early starts, and day off requests.
  • Adhere to Homeland Security opening and closing procedures.
  • Maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet company core values.
  • Be an open-minded problem solver with the ability to multitask and maintain composure.
  • Handle multiple and changing priorities.
  • Monitor available, unavailable, inbound, outbound, and soon-to-clear vehicles to ensure proper coverage for available business.
  • Inform oncoming shift, relief dispatchers, and lead dispatchers/operations supervisors of all important information.
  • Collaborate in the office for effective communication and cross-training.
