About The Position

Hatch is seeking a Transit Engineering Student with an interest in Rail and Transit for an internship starting September 2026. This role will report to Transit Projects and will support offices globally, working from our Vancouver, B.C. office location. The position involves being part of a design team, assisting with conceptual, preliminary and detailed design, site inspection, design calculations, and report writing. The role also includes coordination with engineers, designers, and related disciplines to assist with project deliverables and preparing design submissions and other technical documents.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in Bachelor's degree in Civil / Structural Engineering
  • Relevant courses involve: Civil, Structural, Geotechnics, Utilities and Project Management
  • Experience in the use of AutoCAD, MicroStation and/or Civil3D
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
  • Problem solving skills and analytical
  • Good understanding of engineering and business fundamentals as they apply to engineering problems and projects
  • Ability to learn quickly and to take on new challenges
  • Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately
  • Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Shows critical and creative thinking and problem solving, and brings forward solutions for our clients' toughest challenges
