About The Position

Under general supervision of a Sergeant, enforces city ordinances and state laws related to parking regulations and public transportation; directs vehicle and pedestrian traffic; engages with the public to address enforcement concerns and provide general information; services and maintains parking enforcement equipment, including meters, parking machines and signage; and performs other related duties as assigned. As the Transit Enforcement Officer, you will: Enforce parking and public transportation laws and regulations by patrolling assigned areas on foot, bicycle, or in a vehicle; identifies violations and issues citations or warnings in accordance with city or state laws, regulations, ordinances and procedures. Respond to reports of illegal activity, traffic congestion, or other related concerns, collaborates with police, fire, or other public safety agencies when appropriate and within the scope of responsibility. Engage with the public regularly to address questions, concerns, and complaints regarding parking and public transportation enforcement. Investigate and responds to customer complaints and inquiries or refer issues to supervisors or other departments as needed. Educate the public on parking regulations and citation procedures. Provide general information to the public, including directions and details about city geography. Inspect public transportation vehicles and drivers to ensure compliance with city ordinances and state laws. Maintain and service parking enforcement equipment and vehicles. Monitor the condition and functionality of parking meters and machines; perform minor maintenance and report more complex issues to a supervisor. Collect funds from parking meters and deliver them to the City Hall Utilities Department. Identify the need for curb repainting or updated signage and reports recommendations to a supervisor. Direct traffic at intersections or other locations as needed or requested by law enforcement personnel. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A valid Arizona Driver’s License at the time of appointment
  • Residency in the United States
  • Understand and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
