Safely monitor and supervise all waste transfer station operations and personnel across the Lutz and Brandon facilities, with primary office headquarters based at the Lutz location. Ensure high operational efficiency, equipment uptime, regulatory compliance, rock crushing operations, and a strong safety culture across both sites. Provide effective leadership, resource management, and daily oversight to maintain high production standards, seamless daily waste intake, outbound haulage, and aggregate processing. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in the waste industry, specifically within transfer station, aggregate/rock crushing, or landfill operations.
  • At least one (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience in an industrial or waste management environment.
  • Must possess (or obtain within 60 days of hire) a SWANA Certified Transfer Station Operator certification.
  • Ability to travel regularly between the Lutz and Brandon facilities.
  • Strong leadership, conflict resolution, and operational management skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of waste transfer processes, heavy equipment safety, rock crushing operations, and site traffic management.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating manuals, environmental permits, and weight reports.
  • Proficient in basic computer programs and scalehouse software.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and operate heavy machinery.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Visual acuity for observing tipping floor activities, rock processing operations, equipment performance, and safety hazards.
  • Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience or certification in heavy equipment operation (e.g., rock crushers, front-end loader, excavator, forklift).

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct operational oversight for both the Lutz Transfer Station (primary office location) and the Brandon Transfer Station, traveling between sites as needed to ensure consistent standards and safety compliance.
  • Oversee daily waste intake, floor management, material sorting/consolidation, traffic flow on the tipping floor, and staging of heavy haul transport vehicles to maximize throughput and minimize turn times.
  • Oversee daily operation, maintenance, and production targets for aggregate/rock crushing equipment; monitor feed rates, crush size specifications, stockpile management, and material staging for transport or reuse.
  • Sustain a productive and motivated team by screening, selecting, hiring, training, evaluating, and scheduling station and equipment personnel across both facilities.
  • Enforce all company policies, safety protocols, and local, state, and federal environmental regulations (including DEP/local municipal transfer station permits, air quality, and dust suppression compliance for crushing units). Schedule and conduct regular safety meetings and safety audits.
  • Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs for site infrastructure and heavy equipment—including rock crushers, screens, loaders, excavators, balers, compactors, and scales—to minimize downtime and operational costs.
  • Manage day-to-day administrative, ticketing, and reporting functions from the Lutz main office, ensuring accurate weight measurement, volume/tonnage tracking, and daily reconciliation.
  • Monitor supplies, safety equipment, spare parts, and wear parts for processing machinery across both locations; manage contractor/hauler interactions and maintain positive customer/hauler relations on-site.
  • Operate heavy station and aggregate equipment when necessary to maintain continuous operations or assist during peak volume hours.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
