About The Position

Rogue Waste Systems is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator for their Rogue Transfer Station. The formal workweek is Monday through Saturday, with hours from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM, typically 8-10 hours per day, depending on service demand. Overtime may be required. The role involves the efficient and effective operation and daily maintenance of heavy equipment, spotting, screening, and removing unwanted and recyclable materials, and maintaining positive customer and employee relations.

Requirements

  • A Valid Driver’s License with Clean Driving Record (Required)
  • Class B driver’s license OR the ability to obtain a Class B driver’s license within 6 months if required.
  • Legible handwriting and basic communications skills.
  • Ability to carry out oral and written instructions and read equipment instruction manuals.
  • Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work safely alone and with others.
  • Works with a sense of honesty, trustworthiness, and good decision-making skills.
  • Time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace, responding to multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Comfortable using smart phone and tablet technology to record daily activities and communicate with team.
  • Complete and pass random drug and alcohol tests in accord with DOT and company standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain assigned equipment
  • Rips, moves, loads and places solid waste material, rock and dirt.
  • Cleans cabs, tracks, wheels, teeth and other components of machinery.
  • Spots, screens and removes unwanted and recyclable materials.
  • Identifies waste materials inappropriate to the landfill and removes them to an appropriate location.
  • Assists spotters and attendants in maintaining a presentable organization and appearance.
  • Participate in and support training and initiatives to improve service quality, safety, customer and employee relations, and operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Knowledge and practical skill to safely and efficiently operate large heavy equipment including but not limited to dozer, compactor, excavator, articulated dump truck and water trucks.
  • Yard and facility maintenance including debris and clean up
  • Spotting Trucks
  • Required to work in compliance with all required permits.
  • Various utility tasks as needed
  • Learning the operations of transfer station
  • Specific duties can change on the daily basis as operation needs change
