About The Position

The Transfer Press Operator operates large-tonnage transfer and progressive presses, sets up and monitors press operations, and inspects parts to ensure they meet specifications. The role includes installing and aligning dies, setting up nests and fingers, performing production and quality checks, completing required production and maintenance documentation, and keeping machines and work areas clean. The position also involves routine and preventative maintenance, participation in continuous improvement activities, and carrying out other duties as directed by a supervisor.

Requirements

Metal stamping experience on large-tonnage transfer and progressive presses.
Understanding of programming and setup of die protection sensors.
Understanding of tonnage monitors.
Ability to use tools including handheld pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, and die bars.

Responsibilities

Understand the programming and setup of die protection sensors.
Understand tonnage monitors.
Assemble, install, and align dies in the press according to specifications, working with die setters.
Install nests and fingers.
Position workpieces in the nest or feeder.
Start the press and observe its operation to detect misalignment or malfunction.
Inspect workpieces for conformance to specifications and adjust the machine to correct errors, including during first-piece inspection.
Clean machines.
Catch, pack, and inspect parts.
Operate quality gauges.
Perform hourly checks.
Complete lot tags, production reports, and die maintenance control forms.
Report problems to the Coordinator.
Perform routine and preventative maintenance and setup, including die setting and fastening and machine lubrication.
Keep work areas clean and orderly.
Participate in continuous improvement activities.
Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.
Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
