In this role, you'll help operate and maintain the County's transfer and recycling facilities, ensuring waste is managed safely, efficiently, and in an environmentally responsible manner. You'll assist customers by answering questions, explaining solid waste policies and procedures, and directing them to the appropriate disposal or recycling areas. You'll inspect and identify incoming materials, ensure waste is sorted correctly, and safely handle or separate hazardous materials in accordance with established regulations and safety standards. This position also plays an important role in maintaining a safe and efficient facility. You'll monitor unloading activities, inspect trailers for proper loading, remove potential safety hazards, perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment, and help keep buildings and grounds clean and well maintained. Responsibilities also include removing refrigerants from appliances prior to recycling, completing routine inspections, maintaining activity reports, and supporting the overall operation of the facility.
