About The Position

The Transfer & Adult Re-Entry Center Student Assistant will support the Transfer, Adult Re-Entry Parenting and Pregnant Student Center (TAPP) by assisting guests with information about CSUF, financial aid, campus resources, advising, clubs, organizations, and scholarships. The role involves representing the center at campus outreach events, facilitating workshops and virtual meetings, and aiding professional staff with office tasks such as updating information, answering phones, creating flyers, and responding to emails. This position requires availability for 10-15 hours per week during the academic year, including specific Friday attendance for mandatory trainings and staff meetings, with some evening and weekend work also required.

  • Be able to balance competing priorities especially pertaining to scheduling.
  • Stay well informed about all aspects of academic and student life and services on campus.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when necessary.
  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
  • Maintain a minimum CSUF term and cumulative GPA of 2.3.

Responsibilities

  • Assist guests with obtaining pertinent information about CSUF, financial aid, resources on and off campus, advising, clubs and organizations, scholarships, etc.
  • Represent the center at major campus outreach events such as: Experience CSUF, Explore CSUF, Discover Fest, etc.
  • Assist in the facilitation of center workshops, events, and virtual engagement meetings.
  • Aid Professional Staff in office tasks and projects, including but not limited to updating information/bulletin boards, answering phones, responding to voice mails, creating fliers, and replying to email requests.
  • Attend mandatory trainings and staff meetings on Fridays.
  • Perform some evening and weekend work as required.
