Transcriptionist
About The Position
Suntree Internal Medicine is seeking a Transcriptionist to join their team. This role involves listening to audio recordings from medical professionals and accurately transcribing them into medical documents for patient files. The transcriptionist will be responsible for typing patient histories, physical examinations, chart reviews, consultation and discharge summaries. A key aspect of the role is the ability to distinguish between homonyms and recognize inconsistencies or mistakes in medical terms, often requiring reference to dictionaries and medical resources. The transcriptionist will also translate medical jargon and abbreviations into their expanded forms to ensure the accuracy of information in patient records.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Medical Transcription required
- Medical Terminology Knowledge required
- Must be able to type 60+ words per minute
Nice To Haves
- Medical Experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Listening to audio recordings from medical professionals
- Typing and organizing medical documents from audio files for patient files
- Transcription of patient histories, physical examination, chart reviews, consultation and discharge summaries
- Ability to distinguish between homonyms and recognize inconsistencies/mistakes in medical terms
- May need to refer to dictionaries, drug references, and other sources of anatomy, physiology, or medicine
- Translation of medical jargon and abbreviations into their expanded forms to ensure accuracy of information placed into records.
