About The Position

Avion Solutions Inc., a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking candidates for a Trajectory Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). This position is located in Huntsville, AL. The role involves supporting the MDA Targets and Countermeasures (TC) program office with the development of ballistic missile target vehicles. The engineer will be part of the TC System Engineering team, contributing to all aspects of target design, analysis, and test, including requirements development and assessment, modeling and simulation, test analysis, and reporting. Key technical focus areas include modeling and simulation, trajectory development and analysis, coordinate system transformations, and vehicle performance assessments. The position requires generating and analyzing target vehicle 6DOF trajectory data, supporting mission planning, analysis, and reporting activities, and collaborating with a team to develop analysis and engineering tools. Engagement in database requirements definition, schema development, interface development, testing, data management, and documentation is also expected. The role requires utilizing knowledge of missile characteristics (physical, kinematics, signatures) and engineering principles to support engineering activities and data product development. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in STEM with 3+ years of relevant experience.
Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, Java, C#, and other programming languages.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Must be a U.S. citizen and have the ability to obtain/maintain a DoW security clearance.
Must be able to travel up to 15% of the time.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with MDA and/or DoD programs and processes.
Experience with trajectory development tools (e.g., TAOS, POST).
Experience in any or all of the following disciplines: Design, CAD, Trajectory, Radar Cross Section (RCS) Signatures, Optical Signatures.
Strong attention to detail and ability to efficiently perform multiple tasks.
Ability to communicate detailed technical information to technical and non-technical personnel.

Responsibilities

Support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Targets and Countermeasures (TC) program office with development of ballistic missile target vehicles.

Utilize knowledge, skills, and experience with missile characteristics (physical, kinematics, signatures) and engineering to support engineering activities and data product development.
Other duties as assigned.
