About The Position

The Training Support Center Specialist (TSCS) provides support to the Army National Guard’s (ARNG) Training Aids, Devices, Simulators, and Simulations (TADSS) program throughout the United States and its Territories to include Camp Blanding, FL, Camp Grayling, MI, Los Alamitos, CA, Camp Ripley, MN, Camp Roberts, CA, and Gowen Field, ID. Weekend support will also be required, at times, to support the training unit’s needs.

Requirements

  • Proof of U.S. citizenship.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in training support center operations.
  • Valid Driver’s License is Required.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience as an instructor/staff/cadre member.
  • Working knowledge/understanding of military protocol/chain of command.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Possess professional demeanor and attitude.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with military and civilian work forces.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient using a personal computer (Microsoft Programs).

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Training Center and its operations, including daily opening and closing of facility, scheduling training, and serving as a liaison with military units to ensure maximum utilization of trainers.
  • Maintains up-to-date utilization and training status reports, and prepares and submits monthly utilization reports.
  • Assists in establishing a unit training program, monitors unit training performance, and ensures Army compliance during training sessions.
  • Performs warehouse operations, including processing transactions in TS-MATS, assisting with incoming shipments, and issuing, receiving, and accounting for TADSS equipment.
  • Performs user-level TADSS equipment troubleshooting to detect malfunctions and escalates issues when applicable.
  • Verifies hand-receipt holders, including validation of signature cards and proper identification of requesting officers or authorized representatives.
  • Assembles and groups items/materials according to receiving vouchers/turn-in documentation based on property class, condition, and transaction type.
  • Receives inventory, validates proper type, quantity, and quality of items, and stages equipment orders in Government warehouse.
  • Conducts 100% accountability of annual inventories of parts, tools, test equipment, and other TADSS property in accordance with AR710-1-1 & AR710-1-2, and submits to Government for review/approval.
  • Conducts joint inventory and inspects new equipment and training devices upon receipt.
  • Stores and prepares equipment for issue and submits reports to appropriate offices, notifying the Government of any discrepancies and recommending resolutions.
  • Processes TADSS requests, ensuring requesting units are authorized to request/receive equipment.
  • Compiles a record of demand for issued material by date, unit, and equipment type, and ensures requested material is available for issue.
  • Receives turn-in equipment, inspects it, and prepares it for re-issue.
  • Complies with all safety guidelines and attends daily meetings with staff to discuss safety issues and concerns.
  • Provides technical assistance to newly assigned unit instructors to improve instructional competence.
  • Drafts Standard Operating Procedures for Government consideration.
  • Attends meetings, conferences, and planning sessions to provide experienced technical recommendations to the Government.
  • Attends government-unique training on Government-supplied training devices.
  • Assists the Government with research on a variety of different issues as needed.
  • Participates in area maintenance, including cleaning floors, worktables, stations, distribution offices, repack areas, receiving areas, and staging areas.
  • Performs safety checks on forklifts, material handling equipment, and machinery prior to use.
  • Participates in cycle counting and periodic inventories, including the upkeep, cleanliness, and organization of all assigned areas.
  • Participates in and recommends revisions of lesson plans and programs of instruction (POI).
  • Ensures Soldiers receive training in the most up-to-date regulatory procedures conducted by instructor/operator (I/O’s) personnel.
  • Presents technical instruction, including detailed explanations, demonstrations, and guidance on practical exercises, and evaluates performance.
  • Provides special assistance to students requiring additional training.
  • Observes students operating trainers, identifies operational errors, and redirects students.
  • Provides guidance and problem-solving techniques to resolve operational problems.
  • Operates training devices and simulators, including installing, setting up, and performing daily pre-operational readiness checks.
  • Conducts technical inspections on trainers.
  • Briefs students on safety procedures, required equipment, etc.
  • Trains new operators for various simulators and uses TS-MATS to track training and operators.
  • Assists unit trainers in developing individual and crew training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
