About The Position

The training specialist works as a member of the site management team. Primarily responsible for overseeing all aspects of staff training and design student training for the program for which this position is responsible. The Training Specialist reports to the Program Director. In some instances, may directly supervise other training staff. Requirements

Bachelor's degree.
At least four years of related experience (preferably ROP experience) or Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience. Of the related experience, two in a supervisory capacity.
Must be familiar with ROP procedures, policies, and program implementation.
Working knowledge of the Positive Operational Culture program.
Good interpersonal skills including the ability to interview potential employees if require.
Must meet the requirements to be an eligible ROP driver. Must possess a current State Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years.
Strong knowledge of overall company operations and policies and procedures.
Ability to pass a criminal background clearance check, drug screen, physical and TB test.
Ability to perform work with little or no supervision.
Ability to utilize resources available to complete assigned projects.
Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing.
Able to work in excess of 40 hours per week with the possibility of a varied schedule.
Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Must have excellent organization and time management skills.
Ability to build and maintain positive internal and external relationships.
Ability to provide exemplary customer service to all employees and outside constituents.
Ability to function independently and as a member of a team in a multi-task environment.
Must be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities, with the ability to adjust to high pressure and rapidly changing business conditions.
Proficient in the use of computers and associated software.

Nice To Haves

Supervisory experience preferred, if applicable.
Hold instructor certifications in the following areas: CPR/First Aid, PPC, Crisis Intervention Techniques, Suicide Prevention, preferred.

Responsibilities

Schedules, oversees and provides opportunities for required annual and continued staff training necessary for compliance with licensing regulations, ROP standards and for the site(s) for which this position is responsible. Oversees New Hire Orientation Training, Annual Recertification Training, Essential Subjects, and On The Job Training.
Identifies employees on correction/improvement plans and provides the additional training necessary to ensure the employees successfully complete the improvement plan.
Coordinates training requirements with all departments and provides training classes for employees on all shifts. Schedules training after hours and on weekends if necessary to ensure all training requirements are met.
Conducts student training as directed and required.
Develops, refines and conducts specific training topics as directed and required.
Determines subject matter experts at each ROP site for which the position is responsible and schedules these individuals to provide training of staff and students.
Prepares and maintains annual and monthly training schedules for the program for which the position is responsible.
Compiles, logs, files, and submits treatment and training documentation for the monthly Key Performance Indicators.
Maintains staff training documentation and ensures staff meets the minimum training requirements as prescribed by ROP policy and licensing requirements.
Monitors the training materials, e.g., orientation and technical manuals, to ensure all policies included are current and accurate and within the site licensing requirements.
Revises, updates and maintains training materials as required.
Ensures all aspects of the Positive Operational Culture are preserved from a training standpoint.
Assists with hiring, evaluations, commendations, reprimands and dismissals regarding supervised staff, if applicable.
Reviews and approves time and attendance for supervised staff, if applicable.
Assists with developing supervised staff by conducting training sessions and action plans, if applicable.
Completes required reports and documentation in a timely manner, provides management with required reports and advises of any problematic situations.
Complies with and implements the Rite of Passage Policies and Procedures as detailed in the appropriate manuals/handbooks.
Ensures the highest standards are maintained to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct and to ensure the program remains in compliance with agency licensing and Rite of Passage policies and procedures.
Assists with the correction of deficiencies and quality improvement efforts.
Attends and participates in all required meetings.
Commits to attending and tracking all training and staff development classes in order to ensure sufficient hours of training for this position and all supervised staff are completed on an annual basis. Notifies the supervisor if annual training hours are deficient.
Ensures the safety, health and welfare of staff and students at all times.
Provides encouragement, guidance and resources to staff and students when needed.
Models and ensures all program norms are upheld without compromise.
Acts as a positive role model and mentor for both staff and students.
Treats others with respect, confronts negative behavior and supports confrontations.
Ensures proper safe physical management techniques are followed at all times.
Assists other staff members with emergency situations.
Other duties as assigned, verbally or in written form.
