This role involves overseeing key training resources, assisting in the creation and maintenance of instructional materials, and tracking employee progress within Westmark’s professional development programs. The Training Specialist will ensure that all employees have the knowledge and tools to perform effectively and uphold the company’s standards.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver engaging training programs to diverse audiences.
  • Proactive in identifying opportunities, taking initiative, and driving tasks to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to respond to changing needs, challenges, and feedback in a constructive manner.
  • Able to work well with colleagues and managers across different departments to achieve training objectives.
  • Skilled at designing and implementing engaging, high-quality learning materials.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe, as well as Articulate Storyline or other eLearning content authoring tools.
  • Capable of assessing training needs and developing practical solutions.
  • Committed to supporting team members and providing excellent service.
  • Understanding of Westmark’s products, services, systems, and policies, or the ability to quickly learn.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant training or instructional experience within a financial institution; or Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 2 years of relevant training experience; or An equivalent combination of formal education, training, and applicable experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in organizing internal and external training programs to ensure all employees are knowledgeable about company policies, procedures, and services.
  • Assist the Director Training and Development in delivering and facilitating orientations for new hires.
  • Manage and oversee the administration of Online training, ensuring timely completion and tracking for all employees.
  • Oversee daily tasks related to the Professional Development Library and manage the distribution of branding apparel for employees.
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and support Westmark’s Career Path Program, including arranging program activities, communicating with participants and managers, tracking employee progress, maintaining program resources and documentation, and helping ensure employees have access to development opportunities that support their continued growth and advancement within Westmark.
  • Facilitate and manage the Westmark Mentor Program to foster a supportive learning environment.
  • Assist in developing, reviewing, and updating high-quality curricula, course assessments, and instructional materials—including training guides, lesson plans, and eLearning content—aligned with Westmark’s processes and culture.
  • Support the rollout of new products and services by providing training assistance and preparing educational resources.
  • Help with setting up and cleaning the training room for sessions, ensuring an organized and professional learning environment.
  • Review and proofread all training materials for accuracy and consistency before implementation.
  • Identify skills and knowledge gaps and proactively develop training solutions to bridge these gaps.
  • Work with branch or department managers to deliver customized training when needed.
