About The Position

The Children’s Home of Reading is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Training Specialist to join their ORR Program. This role is crucial in ensuring staff and foster families receive the necessary training to support individuals in achieving independence, confidence, and success. Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Bachelor's degree in education, human services, adult learning, or a related field; OR equivalent combination of education and training coordination experience.
  • Two(2) or more years of experience coordinating training or professional development programs, preferably in child welfare, behavioral health, or human services.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles.
  • Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
  • Proficiency with learning management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Must exhibit integrity and good moral character appropriate for working with children in a residential or foster care setting.
  • Must successfully complete ORR-required background investigations.
  • Must complete ORR-required training applicable to this position's role and level of program responsibility, as required and scheduled by ORR.
  • Must sign and comply with CHOR's Code of Conduct consistent with ORR policy, confidentiality acknowledgment, and mandatory reporter agreement.
  • Must disclose any prior misconduct, including conduct occurring off duty, on the employment applications and in interviews. Material omissions are grounds for termination.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates scheduling and logistics for all pre-service and continuing education training.
  • Tracks and maintains training completion records for staff and foster families.
  • Develops and maintains training materials consistent with ORR and state licensing requirements.
  • Facilitates internal training sessions on program policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates engagement of external trainers and subject matter experts.
  • Monitors staff and foster family compliance with pre-service and annual training requirements, as required and scheduled by ORR.
  • Notifies supervisors of training gaps or approaching deadlines.
  • Supports development of the annual training plan submitted for ORR review.
  • Coordinates with the Apis HR team on new-hire onboarding related to training requirements.
  • Exercise independent judgment consistent with program policy, ORR requirements, and applicable law.
  • Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with children, families, and staff.
  • Maintain regular, reliable attendance and respond promptly to program needs, including outside standard business hours when required by the role.
