About The Position

The Center for Children & Families is seeking a Training Specialist to join CASA of Northeast Louisiana. The Training Specialist supports staff and community volunteers by managing and conducting volunteer/advocate training for the CASA Program. This position is responsible for curriculum development, delivery and training coordination of staff and volunteers. This position also requires that the individual be capable of working as a member of a goal-oriented strength-based team. The Training Specialist is hired by and reports to the Director of CASA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a social service-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Familiarity with the CASA program, the work of CASA programs, and the child advocacy system
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including collaboration, negotiation, and persuasion
  • Have excellent public speaking and facilitation skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with different types of personalities; maintain confidential information and organizational skills; prioritize multiple tasks and remain flexible in a dynamic work environment
  • Working knowledge and understanding of computer systems and the ability to enter data efficiently and accurately
  • An ability to accomplish multiple tasks efficiently, while also prioritizing those tasks
  • Ability to work with and thrive in a variable work schedule environment, including flexibility to work outside of Monday – Friday (8:30-4:30)
  • Must be able to pass a series of background checks and provide references as a condition of employment

Responsibilities

  • Volunteer Screening
  • Daily Monitor Optima database for new volunteer applicants
  • Help host informational sessions for potential volunteers
  • Monitor and respond to prospective volunteers within 48 hours
  • Maintain awareness and sensitivity to volunteers cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and integrate this into volunteer care
  • Coordinate and conduct pre-service screens, interviews and collect all pertinent documentation for new volunteers in training
  • Maintain compliance on background screening procedures
  • Volunteer Training
  • Update and maintain training information on the CASA website
  • Coordinate, schedule and provide pre-service training, including court swearing and observation for all CASA volunteers in the 4 th JDC
  • Coordinate, schedule and provide pre-service training in all rural areas, as needed
  • Ensure potential volunteers have staff support, assistance and consultation
  • Coordinate, schedule, provide and track in-service training for all CASA volunteers, including but not limited to quarterly regional in-service trainings.
  • Maintain proper documentation on all trainings pertaining to volunteers
  • Provide feedback on trainees in order to help match volunteers with their first case
  • Update/enhance the CASA training curriculum as needed in order to be in compliance with National CASA Standards
  • Track and submit training expenses in compliance with state and national standards
  • Volunteer Retention and Recognition
  • Responsible for exploring, planning and implementing volunteer recognition events
  • Conduct volunteer surveys for newly trained volunteer to help them feel supported in their advocacy efforts
  • Track retention and volunteers returning from leave monthly
  • Assist Advocate Supervisors in any duties as needed to help support advocates as they work their cases
  • Organize and help maintain volunteer records via Optima database
  • Research and monitor volunteer retention, indicators and best practices
  • Work with CASA Team to insure that Volunteers complete and document the required number of in-service training hours each year
  • Collaboration, Supervision, and Administration
  • Work collaboratively with all program staff to accomplish the goals and mission of the program
  • Communicate regularly with the Program Director regarding updates and changes in volunteer progress
  • Participate in monthly supervision
  • Participate in employee evaluations as directed by the Program Director
  • Complete time cards weekly
  • Attend all necessary staff training/meetings
  • Attend conferences, seminars, and meetings for continuing education as requested by the Program Director
  • Participate in monthly volunteer file reviews
  • Demonstrate acceptable level of commitment to the core values and mission statement of CASA of Northeast Louisiana and The Center for Children and Families
