About The Position

The Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after unit commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) provides written authorization and approval. GE Aerospace as a SkillBridge partner offers real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields of work while having the opportunity to evaluate the Service member’s suitability for the work. Military DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from GE Aerospace, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members. The Training Specialist is responsible for delivering a world-class training experience in support of integrated technical systems and networking devices for internal and external customers. This role owns and supports training-related activities for assigned products and programs, including systems-based instruction, curriculum development, digital learning content, customer interface, cross-functional coordination, engineering engagement, and new product introduction support. The position requires both systems engineering knowledge and technical training expertise to explain how products function within larger operational environments. Individuals selected for this internship will have the responsibility and authority to carry out all assigned tasks.

Requirements

Active Military personnel on their last 180 days of Military service
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in systems engineering, technical training, instructional delivery, maintenance, product support, customer support, or related technical roles.
Demonstrated knowledge of systems engineering concepts, including requirements, interfaces, integration, verification, and system-level operation.
Experience training users on integrated technical systems and/or networking devices.
Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to deliver complex technical information in a clear and effective manner.
Ability to travel as required to support customer and training delivery needs.
This position requires U.S. citizenship status.
Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.

Nice To Haves

Strong understanding of network architecture, secure communications, or integrated technical systems.
Experience in curriculum development, instructional design, and adult learning methodologies in a technical environment.
Experience delivering virtual, instructor-led, and hands-on technical training.
Experience supporting new product introduction, configuration changes, and engineering-driven updates to training content.
Ability to deliver complex technical messages in a simple context.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to influence others and lead small teams.

Responsibilities

Apply knowledge of systems engineering principles, including requirements, interfaces, integration, verification, and operational concepts, to support training content and user understanding.
Translate complex systems engineering and networking concepts into clear, practical instruction for operators, technicians, maintainers, and customers with varying technical backgrounds.
Develop and maintain training content that reflects system architecture, subsystem interactions, interface dependencies, configuration changes, and engineering updates.
Coordinate with engineering and cross-functional teams to incorporate product updates, configuration changes, design revisions, and new product introduction (NPI) activities into training programs.
Support structured system-level and device-level troubleshooting instruction to improve learner effectiveness and operational readiness.
Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for assigned integrated systems, networking devices, and related training programs.
Deliver technical training on networking devices and integrated systems, including installation, configuration, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
Develop, update, and manage technical training materials, including lesson plans, practical exercises, lab content, digital learning tools, job aids, and customer-facing instructional materials.
Partner with customers and internal stakeholders to identify training needs and develop training solutions that support product, program, and operational requirements.
Support training delivery in classroom, virtual, and hands-on environments, including training conducted at customer locations, as required.
Ensure training content remains aligned with current product configurations, engineering intent, and customer use cases.
Maintain high standards for training quality, learner engagement, and execution across assigned programs.
Ensure applicable student and employee health, safety, and environmental requirements are supported in assigned training activities and facilities.
