DoD SkillBridge Internship Program-Military Active Duty
About The Position
The DoD SkillBridge program allows active-duty service members to complete an internship with a civilian company during the last 180 days of their active-duty contract. Participants are released from their military installation duties for a permissive temporary duty assignment with UPMC, performing industry-relevant tasks to prepare them for civilian employment. UPMC, as the largest DoD SkillBridge provider in Pennsylvania, aims to help transitioning service members find rewarding civilian careers. Any rank, enlisted or officer, can apply. During the internship, participants continue to receive military compensation and benefits. Release for SkillBridge is mission-dependent and requires unit Commander authorization.
Requirements
- Must be on Active Duty Orders.
- Must be able to obtain at least 60 days of approval to participate; 90 or more is preferred.
- Unit Commander must authorize participation prior to entering into any agreement with UPMC.
