About The Position

At WECC, we enhance the lives of 90 million people by identifying and mitigating risks to the bulk power system in the West. To deliver on our mission of a highly reliable and secure bulk power system in the Western Interconnection, we are seeking a Training and Outreach Specialist to help us further our mission and Long-term Strategy. The Training and Outreach Specialist is an integral member of the Strategic Engagement team and instrumental in developing and delivering WECC’s stakeholder training and outreach events, which aim to increase stakeholder awareness of current and emerging risks to the reliability and security of the bulk power system in the West. The Training and Outreach Specialist collaborates with and guides WECC subject matter experts to fulfill our delegation agreement requirement of elevating the skills and knowledge of Western Interconnection stakeholders. Time spent traveling is expected to be a minimum of 5%-15% for this role, though business needs may require additional travel on occasion.

Requirements

Have a bachelor’s degree in education, training, communications, or related field.
Have a minimum of three years’ experience in training and outreach, or a related field.
Have experience designing and delivering corporate training and outreach events.
Possess knowledge of instructional design theory, learning principles, and training assessments.
Understand proven training methods, tools, and techniques for adult education.
Can present complex information to a variety of audiences.
Can adapt to changing environments and work collaboratively.
Can work autonomously and as a team member.
Have strong interpersonal and mediation skills, including the ability to negotiate issues to an agreeable conclusion.
Have excellent organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Are proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Have excellent presentation, written, and spoken communication skills.
Possess strong computer literacy and proficiency using PCs, including a working knowledge of common applications such as those in the Microsoft Office Suite.
Understand and adhere to sound principles of cybersecurity, including protecting sensitive information, using secure passwords, and following organizational cybersecurity protocols.

Responsibilities

Help develop centralized and risk-based training and outreach coordination and management for WECC.
Assist with conceptualizing and delivering external training and outreach activities, including recruiting attendees, scheduling, collaborating on content development, and tracking participation.
Collaborate with subject matter updates on training and presentation development to meet outreach objectives.
Assist with the coordination and facilitation of external training events (e.g., Grid Fundamentals, Reliability and Security Workshop, Reliability & Security Oversight Update).
Evaluate the effectiveness of WECC’s training and outreach activities, by periodically reviewing key metrics and assessing programs to identify potential enhancements.
Partner with the Training and Outreach Specialist counterpart in the development of presentations and coaching of presenters and SMEs.
Provide support for ad hoc training and outreach events.
Respond to stakeholder inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
