About The Position

We’re seeking a Training Manager who can ensure staff are prepared to meet required standards in a secure setting. Position Summary: Responsible for coordinating security officer certification training and non-security pre-service and in-service training for the facility in compliance with MTC and customer directives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling or associated field and two (2) years’ experience in training and curriculum development required.
  • Must possess computer skills and demonstrated writing proficiency.
  • Must successfully complete required pre-service training.
  • Valid driver’s license in the state of New Mexico or Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years correctional custody or law enforcement experience and prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Directly related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements, if approved by management.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, develop and conduct officer certification training for all potential employees in compliance with MTC and Immigrations & Customs Enforcement (ICE) directives.
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct appropriate training for all non-custodial employees as required by MTC and ICE directives
  • Oversee the maintenance and documentation of all certificates and pre-training records.
  • Establish periodic and annual review of certification and pre-service training programs.
  • Develop the departmental budget; monitor and control expenditures; review and recommend changes to budget authorizations.
  • Conduct regular reviews and inspections to ensure facility operations and programs are compliant with all applicable laws and agency policy.
  • Conduct annual in-service training for all staff, as directed.
  • Establish periodic and annual review of training documentation to include certifications, and pre-service and in-service training records.
  • Requires long periods of standing in front of a classroom.
  • Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills, procedures and intervention techniques.
  • Maintain accountability of staff, detainees and property; adhere to safety procedures.
