About The Position

Sodexo is seeking a Training Manager for Food & Nutrition Services to support the McLaren Health System in Michigan. This role is responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating training programs to ensure team members are skilled, safe, compliant, and confident. Key operational topics include knife safety, food safety, sanitation, patient room entry procedures, and service standards. The Training Manager will also assess competency and identify opportunities for continuous improvement, partnering closely with Operations Managers to foster a high-reliability culture across all facilities.

Requirements

  • Experience delivering training or leading teams in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and HACCP principles.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and coaching skills.
  • Ability to travel between facilities within the health system.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of functional experience in training.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is a plus.
  • Reside within one hour or be within a commutable distance to Flint, MI.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driver’s license record check.

Responsibilities

  • Create, update, and deliver training programs for Food & Nutrition Services staff, covering topics such as knife handling, food safety, sanitation, patient room entry, tray line operations, customer service, and regulatory compliance.
  • Facilitate onboarding and orientation for new hires across multiple locations.
  • Develop engaging training materials including SOPs, videos, checklists, and competency guides.
  • Conduct skills assessments to evaluate staff knowledge and performance.
  • Track training completion, competency results, and follow-up needs.
  • Identify performance gaps and create targeted retraining plans.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to employees.
  • Maintain a system-wide training calendar and ensure consistent delivery across all campuses.
  • Collaborate with leaders to identify training needs based on audits, safety events, and operational changes.
  • Monitor regulatory updates and adjust training programs accordingly.
  • Support readiness for inspections and accreditation surveys.
  • Lead or participate in quality-improvement initiatives related to food safety, patient experience, and operational excellence.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert for food safety and service standards.
