About The Position

The duties involved in the Training Instructor position primarily involve the development and presentation of basic heavy equipment training courses for company product lines for distributors, customers, and Manitowoc employees. This role will also manage and contribute to multiple projects related to the training department and will maintain all related records and reports.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Mechanical Technology, Information Systems or Computer Science.
  • Excellent public speaking skills
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills as well as organizational and time management skills a must.
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Creativity and Nible Learning
  • Ability to work well and collaborate with others
  • Must be able to work on your feet for many hours at a time
  • Having a flexible schedule that may require multiple weeks and weekend travel.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Travel Required: 50% to 75% - Must possess or can acquire a US passport.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver, develop, and implement basic level crane training including trouble shooting, operational, safety, and maintenance modules.
  • Conduct classroom training sessions for technicians and crane specialists in different locations throughout the United States and other parts of the world.
  • Assess students’ performance in the classroom and provide feedback and results from their performance.
  • Create and upload training content to the training website.
  • Manage the schedule, logistics, and maintenance of the Mobile Training and Technology center.
  • Use new technological tools to create, improve, and translate the curriculum.
  • Be involved in the strategic plan of training the newly hired technicians and support the growth of the technician population through efficient, effective training.
  • Teach and remind all students through training the importance of all safety policies and procedures.
  • Speak about safety at every training.
  • Conduct SLAMS and communicate safety reminders during every training, and at every visit to manufacturing, aftermarket, service shop, or construction location.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and provide solutions to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Answer technicians’ questions regarding crane troubleshooting both face to face during training or over the phone.
  • Provide expertise in computer technology that supports curriculum development, improved student learning and additional technological tools that can be used by the training team.
  • Prepare instructional materials, training manuals, and safety documentation.
  • Manage the classroom for each training including attendance, materials, expectations, and a positive productive learning environment.
