Training Director
About The Position
The Training Director is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of training to staff. This role involves managing training initiatives, assessing training effectiveness, and ensuring alignment with HCPDO mission, vision and values. The Training Director supports employee development and works with leadership to align training programs with organizational goals. The Training Director reports directly to the Chief of Legal Services, but will collaborate with other supervisors about training needs, as well as work with the Training Committee regarding education of the bar generally.
Requirements
- Significant experience as a criminal defense lawyer.
- Must have tried a substantial number of felony cases.
- Must be licensed or eligible to become licensed in Texas within one (1) year.
- Qualifying education, experience, knowledge, and skills must be documented on your job application.
Nice To Haves
- Experience training criminal defense lawyers is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of culture and practice in Harris County criminal courts is preferred but not required.
- Ten (10) years of criminal defense experience.
- Training experience across various team roles within indigent defense is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Designing, implementing, and overseeing training and gathering training resources.
- Directly training lawyers and staff.
- Meeting with Chief of Legal Services, supervisors and/or training committee.
- Administrative Duties.
