About The Position

Boeing Aerospace Operations Boeing Global Services (BGS) F-22 ARES Program is seeking a skilled Training Device Technician (Experienced or Senior) to support maintenance and pilot training at Langley AFB, VA. This role involves applying advanced technical expertise to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex training systems, including simulators, visual and network systems, and associated equipment. The technician will ensure operational readiness and configuration management while collaborating with engineers, vendors, and customers to resolve technical issues and support certification efforts. Ideal candidates bring extensive experience in avionics or electronic equipment maintenance, with a strong background in simulator or aircraft systems. The position requires physical stamina, flexibility to work variable shifts, and the ability to work independently under strict security protocols. Familiarity with network systems, operating systems, and classified inventory management further supports success in this critical role supporting F-22 training operations.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with maintenance of avionics and/or electronic equipment
  • Experience maintaining Full Flight Simulators and/or aircraft maintenance
  • Able to walk constantly throughout the workday; stand 6-8 hours per day; climb or work from stairs/steps up to 8 hours per day; climb ladders; bend and twist frequently up to six hours per day; squat and kneel
  • Able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Must be willing to work variable shifts, including weekends and overtime. Some positions may also be rotating shifts
  • Ability to obtain access to Special Access Programs (SAP)
  • U.S. Citizenship Required for Security Clearance
  • Must be a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of higher education and/or related work experience. (Higher education includes college, university, technical school, licensing/certification programs, etc.)
  • Top Secret Security Clearance
  • Completed formalized vocational training programs in Aircraft/Weapons/Avionics systems technologies, computing systems, network system, and/or aircraft simulator maintenance
  • Previous experience in the maintenance of training devices and training systems
  • Previous experience in supervision of maintenance technicians
  • Experience with digital input/output systems
  • Knowledge of System Administration and Network protocols
  • Security Plus or Network plus certification highly desired
  • Knowledge of Windows 10 Operating System
  • Knowledge of Red Hat Operating System
  • Knowledge of Cisco switches
  • Have a working knowledge of computers and operating systems; must be able to remove and install software on multiple platforms with administrative privileges
  • Be able to identify basic I/O devices for computing to include but not limited to mouse, keyboard, multiple video formats and connections, power requirements, disk drive types
  • Preferred knowledge of all versions of Windows, Linux, Server applications, administrative tools, Group policy objects, Active directory, Remote desktop services, Server backups, RAID storage, Diskless boot, Networking and network switch trouble shooting

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced maintenance knowledge and technical information in training system technical documentation to correct equipment malfunctions
  • Develop solutions to complex problems using established organization policies, practices, and procedures as guidelines
  • Perform detailed inspections for pre-operations, post-operations, and component handling to verify maintenance actions, operational readiness, and configuration management
  • Verify and maintain the configuration of training devices and/or bench test equipment
  • Troubleshoot beyond established fault isolation procedures to isolate mechanical or electrical faults and repair faulty components
  • Consult with engineers in troubleshooting systems (ex., electrical, computer, and visual) and support equipment
  • Coordinate and consult with vendors and/or customers to determine the level of maintenance or repairs to be performed on training devices and/or components
  • Repair and modify F-22 training system components by changing, removing, and/or replacing parts and sub-assemblies of training devices, visual systems, classrooms, network/computing systems, and input/output systems
  • Inspect installation, configuration, alignment, upgrade, modification, and repair of computer and network systems, visual image generation and display systems, Input/output (I/O) systems and software to ensure compliance with technical requirements
  • Connect/disconnect components for testing and inspection
  • Document work accomplished per the engineering planning documents and/or technical manuals and maintains configuration
  • Inspect components and/or LRU's to verify status prior to installation
  • Evaluate results of Automated/Manual Test Guides.
  • Assist in training device certification
  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Conduct and maintain classified Inventories.
  • Safeguard classified information systems
  • Understand and employ cable management
