About The Position

The Training & Development Specialist will be responsible for assessing, planning, developing, and delivering individual and group training programs. This role utilizes various technical, operational, and management tools to enhance employee skills and knowledge. The specialist will also evaluate and recommend external vendor programs, create teaching aids, and implement instructional methods based on evaluation data. Key functions include assisting in departmental training goals, developing procedural documents, maintaining communication with personnel and customers, managing course registration and data, and staying current with industry trends. The role also involves providing exceptional customer service and adhering to company policies and confidentiality standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Training, Education, Human Resources, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in developing and delivering training or educational programs.
  • In-depth understanding of adult learning principles and various training methods.
  • Proficiency in instructional design, training program evaluation, and the ability to adapt methods to meet diverse needs.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with excellent organizational and human relations abilities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Windows applications.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage stressful conditions with composure.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Mohican Nation Gaming License.
  • Undergo and pass a Criminal Investigation Background Check (CIB), as well as pre-employment drug and health screenings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work courteously and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Willingness to attend all training sessions required.
  • Eligibility for coverage under the employer’s liability insurance.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Alternatively, a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Experience with UKG or similar systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge or experience with tribal laws and ordinances, EEO, state, federal and local laws related to casino gaming regulations are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, develop, and deliver individual and group training programs utilizing various technical, operational, and management tools.
  • Evaluate and recommend external vendor programs to meet training objectives.
  • Create and prepare teaching aids, visual materials, computer tutorials (E-Learning/LMS), and reference materials tailored to specific training goals.
  • Implement and revise instructional methods based on evaluation data.
  • Evaluate training programs using data to recommend changes and improvements.
  • Assist in planning and implementing departmental training goals aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Develop and update procedural documents, newsletters, and training materials.
  • Maintain effective communication with Gaming personnel and external customers.
  • Handle course registration, attendance, evaluations, and data entry into training databases.
  • Generate reports as needed by HR Manager/Director of HR, or other management members.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices by attending seminars, workshops, and conferences.
  • Maintain a well-organized training library and inventory.
  • Provide exceptional service to all internal and external customers, maintaining a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Adhere to Tribal Personnel Policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and Gaming Division Policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and meet professional standards.
