About The Position

The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is an integral part of the City’s evolving criminal justice system, participating in reform initiatives and strategies aimed at moving the city towards a smaller jail system without compromising public safety. NYC DOC is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors, volunteers, and people in custody. Most importantly, safe jails enable DOC to provide people in custody with the tools and opportunities they need to successfully re-enter their communities. NYC DOC operates facilities and court commands across the five boroughs with more than 7,500 diverse professionals and knowledge experts. The Division of Training and Development encompasses the Correction Academy, the Firearms & Tactical Unit, the Professional Development Unit, and the Training Compliance & Tracking Unit. The Professional Development Unit is seeking to recruit two Part Time Training Coordinators in the Staff Analyst title to provide direct support to the Director of Professional Development through liaising with senior management and staff to disseminate information concerning requests for training, including special requests/customized training.

Requirements

• A master's degree from an accredited college in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies or a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience working in one or a combination of the following areas: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, labor relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or in a related area.
• An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described in "2" above.
• A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and six years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described in "2" above.
• A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", "3", or "4" above.
• College education may be substituted for professional experience at the rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for one year of experience.
• All candidates must have a high school diploma.

Responsibilities

• Data entry using Microsoft Office Suite Tools
• Compiling data for analysis to strategically allocate training resources
• Reporting data to oversight agencies for compliance with local, state, and federal mandates
• Generating reports for review to manage and maintain training completions
• Maintaining professional relations with Departmental stakeholders to disseminate information and persuade action
• Clerical and administrative support for the Professional Development Unit as assigned
• Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Perform general office functions and related duties as assigned
