About The Position

The Training Coordinator is a field-focused position reporting to the Safety Manager and supporting mineral exploration drilling operations across remote job sites throughout the Western United States. This role will spend the majority of time in the field delivering hands-on, task-based training directly to drill crews, with a strong focus on newer employees. The position requires extensive practical knowledge of drilling operations and mobile support equipment. The Training Coordinator works side-by-side with crews to train, observe, coach, and verify employee competence on drilling-related tasks and equipment, including water trucks, rod trucks, backhoes, and other off-road and support equipment. The work schedule will depend on the candidate's location, but candidates must be flexible and willing to work extended hours, rotating schedules, and remote assignments as needed.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience working in mining.
  • 5 years of experience in the drilling industry.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and coach crews in active work environments.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in remote locations.
  • Willingness and ability to work 12-hour shifts outside in all weather.
  • Willingness to work both day shift and night shift.
  • Experience operating manual transmission trucks off-road.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug test and Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).

Nice To Haves

  • Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) without an automatic transmission restriction.
  • Current MSHA Blue Card.
  • Experience operating mobile cranes and other heavy equipment such as winch trucks.
  • Competent Person Fall Protection Training
  • Familiarity with documenting field training in web-based or mobile Learning Management Systems (LMS).

Responsibilities

  • Provide off-road driving instruction in large mobile equipment, including water trucks, rod trucks, and similar vehicles.
  • Assist Drillers/Tool Pushers with training and National’s career progression system.
  • Support Tool Pushers with managing National’s web/app-based training system.
  • Assist with required classroom training as needed, including MSHA Part 48 New Miner and Annual Refresher training.
  • Support Safety Managers with site-specific training.
  • Assist Safety Managers with Working at Heights training and annual Fall Protection inspections.
