About The Position

The Prince William Health District (PWHD) operates multiple public health programs to protect and improve the health and well-being of its residents from Prince William County, Manassas City, and Manassas Park, a majority minority community in Northern Virginia. PWHD is a progressive public health leader providing services that promote population health, protect public health and the environment, and ensure residents' access to health services and information. Developing a competent public health workforce is integral to PWHD's mission. We are looking to enhance our workforce with a dynamic and innovative individual to support public health training and exercise, and support workforce development for staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders. This position will conduct these activities through internal collaboration and external partnerships within the Emergency Preparedness and Response Division of PWHD. Join our team to lead the development and delivery of comprehensive public health emergency preparedness and response training for PWHD staff, MRC volunteers, and community partners. In this role, you will maintain and implement a multi-year training and exercise plan, support the Integrated Preparedness Plan (IPP), and ensure all required documentation meets Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) grant standards. You will collaborate with local jurisdictions and partners to strengthen PWHD’s Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), manage employee emergency management training records, and participate in regional preparedness initiatives. When emergencies arise, you will play a key role by providing Just-In-Time Training (JITT) to support public health response operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • 5 years of related experience in public health, epidemiology, emergency management, adult education, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, emergency management, public administration, or a related field of study
  • 6 years of experience in public health, epidemiology, emergency management, adult education, or a related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and the Incident Command System (ICS)
  • Completion of the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Emergency Manager Certification

Responsibilities
