About The Position

The Performance, Education & Resource Centers (PERC) is recruiting for a Training and Development Supervisor who oversees the daily operations of the department’s training programs, including professional development, operational training, and other workforce development initiatives. The Training and Development Supervisor consults and collaborates with departmental leadership and internal stakeholders regarding training and development needs; manages training-related projects from planning through delivery; and identifies and evaluates training goals. Responsibilities also include monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness and recommending improvements to curriculum, frequency, staffing, format, and other aspects of training programs and services to enhance effectiveness. The resulting eligible list may be used to fill current and future vacancies throughout the department. Requirements

  • Current San Bernardino County, San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, or Special District employee holding a regular, intern, contract, extra-help, recurrent, Public Service Employee, or Work Experience Program (WEX) position.
  • Former PSE, WEX, or interns are eligible to apply up to 6 months from the end of their assignment.
  • San Bernardino County employment must be clearly listed in the work experience section of your application.
  • OPTION 1: Master’s degree or higher-level graduate degree from an accredited institution in English, Education, Business/Public Administration, Liberal Arts, Communication, Organizational Development, Computer Science, Social/Behavioral Science, or Natural Science AND Two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience (within the last five (5) years) as a professional trainer/educator of adult learners.
  • OPTION 2: Bachelor's degree in English, Education, Business/Public Administration, Liberal Arts, Communication, Organizational Development, Computer Science, Social/Behavioral Science, or Natural Science AND Three (3) years of full-time experience (within the last five (5) years) as a professional trainer/educator of adult learners.
  • Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by an accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.
  • Degrees or coursework completed outside of the U.S. must be accompanied by an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service indicating equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by an accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.
  • Providing informal on-the-job training is not considered qualifying experience.
  • Delivering training, performing needs assessments, developing curriculum, and other closely related duties must encompass primary scope of responsibilities.
  • Must pass a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting, work history verification, job-related physical exam, and drug screening.
  • Travel throughout the County may be required and employees will be required to make provisions for transportation.
  • Must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States.
  • Candidates cannot require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.
