About The Position

The Manager of Promotional Development is responsible for managing the development, procurement, and project management of locally produced promotional programming for assigned projects within the Shiseido Company portfolio. Supporting the POSM categories of gift with purchase, pouches/bags, collateral, event items and print. This role partners with Brands, Creative, Operations and Suppliers to translate marketing objectives into high-quality point-of-sale materials (POSM) that elevate the consumer and retail experience. The Manager leads the concept-to-delivery process for locally produced items—including gift-with-purchase, pouches/bags, event items, and printed materials—balancing brand alignment and functional design with strategic sourcing, cost optimization, supplier management, and on-time delivery.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in POSM development and procurement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting prestige beauty across multiple channels (e.g., department store, open sell, boutique).
  • Strong strategic sourcing and negotiation skills; able to build RFQs, evaluate bids, and recommend award decisions.
  • Solid commercial and analytical capability (cost breakdowns, scenario comparisons, and budget management); high attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage supplier performance, quality, and delivery; comfortable troubleshooting issues and driving corrective actions.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills; process-oriented and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with brand stakeholders and cross-functional partners.
  • High sense of ownership and accountability; proactive and able to take initiative with minimal direction.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and enterprise systems such as SAP.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Brand Marketing and Creative to translate promotional briefs into execution-ready POSM concepts, recommending materials, constructions, and production approaches that support brand vision and consumer experience.
  • Lead the end-to-end concept-to-delivery workflow for assigned promotional items, aligning stakeholders on scope, specifications, timelines, and deliverables from kickoff through warehouse receipt.
  • Drive innovation through trend research, competitive shopping, and supplier ideation to introduce new materials, finishes, and concepts aligned to evolving consumer needs and category direction.
  • Develop and negotiate commercial terms (pricing, lead times, MOQs, shipping terms as applicable) and present clear cost comparisons and recommendations to support approvals.
  • Drive cost optimization and value engineering by partnering with Brand and Creative to propose material, construction, or vendor alternatives that improve functionality and reduce cost.
  • Identify, lead, and implement optimal sourcing strategies across categories supporting all region’s needs.
  • Identify, lead, and implement continuous improvements to improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to develop prototypes and samples; provide clear feedback and iterate quickly to achieve brand, quality, sustainability, and functional requirements.
  • Own vendor management across the lifecycle by communicating specifications, managing timelines, and resolving production, quality, and delivery issues in partnership with Operations and the distribution center.
  • Manage project timelines and ensure all Promotional Development dates and milestones within the Creative Calendar and Creative Request Process are met with high accuracy (item setup, quoting, cost optimization, purchase order creation/assignment, and delivery to the warehouse).
  • Prepare, process, and track purchase orders for locally sourced items; ensure compliance with warehouse requirements and support smooth inbound execution; on-time, in-full.
  • Track progress against quarterly sustainability KPIs and recommend material and sourcing improvements that support sustainability targets.
  • Participate in weekly and bi-weekly cross-functional meetings with Operations, Creative, and Brand teams to provide updates, escalate risks/delays, and align on next steps.
  • Develop strong working relationship with key stakeholders such as: Marketing, Creative, Finance, Project Management, Planning, Logistics, Operations, Finance, Suppliers.
