About The Position

The Trainer is responsible for training operators on SCS written processes, forms, and Manufacturing Standard Procedures (MSPs). This role involves providing training for Operators, Maskers, and other production personnel, and making recommendations for work improvements to the supervisor. The Trainer will coach and mentor employees to enhance their performance through skill development, efficiency improvements, and better product/process knowledge. They will set a professional example in behavior and performance, supporting company goals, treating others with respect, communicating clearly, and adhering to company policies. This role requires maintaining relationships with lead operators and supervisors to identify training needs and assist in analyzing performance deficiencies. Collaboration with Applications Technicians, Quality, and Operations is key for workflow, process transfers, production scheduling, labor planning, quality improvement, and resource optimization. The Trainer will also make recommendations for safety, process improvements, and meeting customer requirements, ensuring all training documentation is completed accurately and on time. Data entry and organization will be performed daily, and a database of employee training records will be maintained.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Minimum of one year successful experience as a production employee at SCS in order to develop skills used in masking and/or coating operations.
Must be a top performer, a well-respected member of the team, an effective communicator, and have consistently high quality of work and excellent attendance.
Ability to effectively deliver training material.
Ability to clearly communicate and comprehend in English work instructions, production results, quality issues, training procedures, and similar subjects, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to perform basic math functions and manipulate electronic spreadsheets.
Possess intermediate skills with MS Office software: MSWord, MSExcel, MSOutlook/Lotus Notes.
Ability to effectively work as a team member as well as individually.
Moderate to high degree of manual dexterity and hand-to-eye coordination.
Ability to distinguish between the colors of red, orange, yellow, blue, green and violet with or without accommodation.
Able to read at a 20/20 visual acuity using a Jaeger eye chart (near vision) with or without vision correction. Able to read No. 1 at 14” distance, or No. 2 at 20” distance, or No. 3 at 24” distance.

Coaches or mentors employees to achieve a higher performance level through improved skill level, efficiencies, methods, or product/process knowledge.
Sets the example for behavior and performance in area of responsibility by presenting self in a professional manner, supporting company goals and objectives, treating others with respect and dignity, communicating clearly, listening carefully, providing timely follow-up, demonstrating ethical behavior, and following company policies.
Maintains relationships with lead operators and Supervisors to be aware of potential training needs and to help them analyze performance deficiencies with their employees.
Collaborates with Applications Technicians, Quality and Operations to effect work flow, process transfers, production scheduling, labor planning, quality improvement, and best use of resources.
Makes recommendations to promote safety, improve processes, and meet customer requirements.
Provides employee training, guidance and assistance that enable shift personnel to successfully perform current or new processes.
Assures that all training documentation for production personnel is completed and compiled in a timely manner.
Accurately completes reports, training records, forms, logs and spreadsheets as required.
Maintains a database detailing employee training dates, types of training, qualification and recertification dates.
Attends shift meetings, safety committee, production meetings, and other meetings as assigned.
May be required to make presentations to large groups of people (training, informational, etc).
Is aware of and adheres to plant safety rules.
Polices proper use of safety devices, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and safe work practices in assigned area.
Maintains a neat and orderly work area by enforcing and following housekeeping rules.
May assist in other areas or perform other duties as required by fluctuating business needs.
