About The Position

As a member of the Community Jobs Program (CJP), the Trainer/Job Coach works with the CJP Team in an effort to increase CalWORKs participant’s employability through a job readiness and job preparation program that includes vocational skills training and paid work experience.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience providing direct services to human services and/or behavioral health services participants from minority/underserved groups or similar population
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated experience providing job readiness and vocational skills development training required
  • Must have excellent communication skills and a friendly, customer-focused attitude
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively, function independently, and interact professionally with a diverse, multi-cultural, and interdisciplinary staff of all levels

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in social work, business & marketing communications field, preferred.
  • Familiarity with community human services and/or behavioral health systems of care in San Francisco highly preferred
  • Familiarity with the San Francisco community resources/services (may include health, mental health, substance abuse, vocational, housing, etc), highly preferred
  • Strong commitment to the philosophy, goals, & mission of RAMS in providing community-based, culturally competent, and participant-guided mental health services to the community
  • Commitment to engaging in professional development activities such as trainings, continuing education seminars, case conferences, and reviewing up-to-date material, etc., as related to treatment strategies for the population of Hire-Ability
  • Experience supporting participants in a holistic, strength-based, Trauma-Informed Care approach

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and Provide Job Readiness Activities which include but are not limited to the following: Vocational and educational assessments (example: Individual Service Plan), Job Readiness and Soft Skills Training
  • Provide Job Coaching/Support to participants throughout the different stages of CJP
  • Work collaboratively with Job Developers and CJP team to encourage participant engagement throughout the various stages
  • Support in efforts to re-engage participants in the services provides
  • Engage participants in Vocational Skills Development Training in a classroom style setting and update training materials as needed to adapt to participants needs
  • Conduct check-ins with participants to address barriers using a strength based and trauma informed care approach
  • Communicate with HSA staff on an ongoing basis, reporting participant absences within two days of occurrence
  • Works collaboratively with all the related Hire-Ability staff around meeting the program's contract objectives
  • Provide basic remedial education, as needed, such as reading comprehension and basic math
  • Provide job retention support for a minimum of 90 days to participants who obtain unsubsidized employment
  • Participate in case conference meetings with HSA staff to make next step recommendations, referrals for ancillary, other supportive services, or address concerns and document recommendations
  • Other duties as assigned
