About The Position

We are seeking Trainee Clinicians to join our team in Santa Rosa. As a Trainee Clinician, you will provide outpatient counseling to adults who have a wide range of psycho-social, mental and emotional needs. Modalities include and are not limited to the following; Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques, Mindfulness and Recovery-oriented intervention. Clinical supervision, professional development and case consultation will be provided, including excellent supervisory and clinical support. Through this work, the Trainee Clinician contributes directly to a positive client experience and a workplace culture rooted in Buckelew’s mission and values. Business hours are Monday through Friday, including evening hours as needed to meet client needs. Clinical services are provided dependent upon client availability which may require adjustments in work schedule.

Requirements

In a Master’s in counseling, Psychology or Social Work program and receiving training hours in graduate school.
Ability to complete all client recordkeeping and charting accurately and in a timely manner all client recordkeeping and charting, including psychosocial assessments, treatment summaries and case closings.
Ability to provide written documentation and oral case presentations that contain clear, accurate, and professional descriptions of the treatment.
Willingness to learn psychodynamic and evidence-based principles and practices, and be able to apply these in treatment planning and intervention.
Able to demonstrate flexibility and maturity in dealing with unsettling material and/or unusual circumstances.
Display interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship.
Must have awareness of the impact of cultural factors in shaping personal identity and use this knowledge in working with persons of various cultural, racial, economic backgrounds, gender identify, and sexual orientation.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Computer skills required to complete documentation, respond to email and use the Internet.
Must have or obtain NPI number and complete other credentialing requirements as required by the needs of the program.
Must be culturally competent, flexible, and committed to working as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Maintain caseload of client adults including all necessary documentation and charting.
Conduct comprehensive Adult Needs and Strengths Assessment (ANSA)
Maintain records for all clinical services that meet Medi-Cal standards for quality and compliance. Documentation is required consistent with agency standards and a billing standard is established by the Program Manager in accordance with contract requirements and agency policies.
Become competent in the agency’s electronic health record system and utilize for documentation and recordkeeping.
Participate as an active member of the clinical team, attending program staff meetings and staff development as required.
Facilitate group treatment that may include DBT, Grief and others as needed.
Provide crisis intervention and crisis management services under direction of Assistant Program Director, Program Director or Licensed staff.
Provide counseling, consultation, and case management to clients individually and in groups in a manner that facilitates recovery and growth, assuming responsibility, and the ability to relate effectively with others.
Provide support and resource connection for clients who may be experiencing acute mental health challenges.
Assist in accessing various medical, detention and psychiatric care facilities as needed and directed.
Encourage client efforts at utilizing community support and peer-based supports (Wellness Center, AA, NA, etc.).
