About The Position

Gulf Coast Assisted Living (Palmview) is seeking a part-time Trained Medication Assistant (TMA) to join their team in Cape Coral, FL. This role offers a paid opportunity to serve others in a healthcare setting. The position involves administering prescribed medications and limited topical treatments to residents under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse, adhering to state and federal regulations. The community is part of Volunteers of America National Services and has been Great Place to Work® Certified for 8 consecutive years.

Requirements

A minimum of high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Registered or certified as a nursing assistant.
Completion of a state approved training program in medication administration with certificate received.
Effective communicator with staff, families and outside agencies.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action and as delegated by the licensed nurse or registered nurse in compliance with all state/federal requirements.

Nice To Haves

1 year experience as a Med-Tech (preferred).

Responsibilities

Administration of medications and treatments as delegated by a licensed nurse.
Follows all shift routines, policy and procedures regarding measuring of vital signs, weights and administration of medications and treatments.
Follows facility medication protocols.
Obtain report, getting full information on residents’ conditions and new orders.
Confer with team members concerning assignments, routines, and rehabilitation of residents. Discuss with charge nurse any necessary changes.
