About The Position

We are seeking locomotive engineers to operate our Omaha Zoo Railroad. This includes our historic steam locomotive and our diesel locomotive. This position will entail fireman duties, engineer duties, oiling of equipment, greasing of equipment, fueling, watering, and very minor mechanical adjustments.

Requirements

• Basic use of hand tools.
• Use of hand signaling practices.
• Customer service skills.
• Ability to work with a diverse population and speaking to the public.
• Ability to multitask.
• Candidates might be required to pass a pre-employment background check, drug test, and possess a valid driver’s license with a good history.

Nice To Haves

• Railroad experience, railroad motive power and steam locomotive experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Care and feeding of steam locomotives.
• Care of diesel locomotives.
• Train air brake handling.
• Light off a steam locomotive.
• Train handling.
• Fill and operate grease guns and oil cans.
