About The Position

Join our dynamic and expanding transportation team as a Traffic Staff Engineer, where you’ll play a key role as part of a growing and developing practice in delivering innovative solutions for complex transportation challenges. We’re seeking a skilled professional with expertise in traffic design and analyses which includes work zone traffic control, signing and pavement marking, traffic signal design, ITS design, roadway lighting, and traffic operations analysis and simulation. The ideal candidate does not need to be proficient in all areas, but at least one to two of the areas listed. This position is available in all NC offices: Raleigh or Charlotte. Requirements

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Preferred to have Professional Engineer license, with ability to obtain NC PE within 3 months.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in traffic engineering.
  • Knowledge of state and municipal policies, standards, specifications, and guidelines desired.
  • Experience preparing traffic engineering design plans for a state DOT or municipality.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, writing and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Nice To Haves

  • Project or Task Management experience is preferred but not required.
  • Preparing traffic management plans and temporary traffic control plans
  • Traffic signal design, closed-loop signal system design, and ITS design;
  • Experience preparing signing and pavement marking plans;
  • Traffic analyses using software such as Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, VISSIM, SIDRA.
  • ITS and Lighting design for major roadway projects
  • Experience using MicroStation, ORD, or Civil3D is preferred.
