About The Position

Assist and perform a variety of manual labor tasks in and around traffic signs, painting traffic markings and installing mastic and heat applied street markings in support of Traffic Engineering. This is a Training and Certification Program position. Job descriptions are intended to present a general list of tasks/duties performed by employees within this job classification. Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License and a clean driving record.
• Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
• May be required to have a passing grade on a standard mechanical aptitude test.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with MS Word and Excel preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation and maintenance of street name signs, regulatory signs, and way-finding and informational signs.
• Assist with the placement of barricades and various traffic control devices.
• Assist in the painting of curbs, stripes, and other markings.
• Assist in the installation of mastic or heat markings in the street.
• Move, load and unload equipment and materials; operate hand tools, power tools, city vehicles and other equipment including but not limited to lift and boom trucks.
• Provide general cleanup and debris removal; work with concrete and related items in sidewalks and drives.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities by assisting Traffic Signs and Markings Technicians along with supervision in various duties, as needed and required.
• Adhere to safe work practices and procedures.
