About The Position

The Traffic Division plans, operates and maintains the transportation systems within the city of Irving in a safe, efficient and proactive manner. Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic safety practices
  • Ability to communicate in English at a level necessary for successful job performance
  • A high school diploma or equivalent plus advanced electronic training and one year experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of electronic and digital signal control devices
  • Must currently possess or be able to obtain a Texas Class A CDL within six months from date of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of fiber optic, copper wire and wireless communications systems, and electrical wiring

Responsibilities

  • Installing, testing, repairing and maintaining various control and communication equipment, such as traffic signals, school zone flashers, emergency vehicle safety flashers, traffic video detection and monitoring equipment, and communication networks
  • Operating equipment in signal installation, e.g. dump trucks, air compressors, jackhammers, trenchers, backhoes, bucket and pole trucks, and forklifts
  • Maintaining documentation on work orders, status reports, trouble calls, work schedules and other related activity records
