About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Traffic Monitoring Specialist / Dispatcher / Call Center to be based in Detroit, MI. This is for an afternoon shift (1pm - 9pm) with weekends and some holiday hours required. The position is based out of a client location near downtown Detroit, MI. The role involves updating and responding to scheduled and unscheduled traffic events and congestion using devices such as closed-circuit camera TV systems/cameras and detectors. The specialist will act as an emergency dispatcher within a call center environment, dispatching responders via a two-way radio system to assist motorists, respond to events, and handle other activities requiring timely and efficient responses. The role also includes performing data entry functions and the ability to fluently work in multiple PC applications simultaneously. Exceptional organizational and communication skills (written and verbal) are essential for prioritizing tasks and relaying information effectively. The position involves performing critical thinking functions, assessments, and making decisions based on circumstances within a 24/7/365 environment. The work is performed under direct supervision, involving moderately complex technical tasks using instructions, examples, and computer system results.

Requirements

  • High School + no experience
  • Background and drug/alcohol screening required
  • Willing to work 24/7/365 operation - must be willing to work outside of standard business hours

Nice To Haves

  • 2 or more years of experience of surveillance and or CCTV monitoring
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Customer/Client relationship experience
  • Ability to multi-task

Responsibilities

  • Updating and responding to scheduled and unscheduled traffic events and congestion with devices such as closed-circuit camera TV systems/ cameras, detectors, etc.
