About The Position

We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Traffic Manager at our Morris, IL location to help support our Flooring business. Leggett & Platt Inc. is the largest manufacturer of carpet cushion and hard surface underlayment in the United States. Our Flooring businesses manufacture and distribute foam-, rubber-, and fiber-based flooring underlayment for residential and commercial use. Our flooring underlayment products provide support, cushioning, and noise reduction under virtually any finished flooring material in your home or business. As a Traffic Manager, you will have the opportunity to direct and oversee transportation-related operations within the branch. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by ensuring our products are reaching customers with 100% customer satisfaction. Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience as a transportation manager in a similar industry
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with team members and navigate stressful situations
  • Solid knowledge of State and Federal DOT regulations
  • Exceptional leadership skills
  • Geographical comprehension
  • Critical thinking skills and knowledge of analytics
  • Good conflict resolution skills
  • Understand contracts and capital projects in the traffic, shipping, and receiving areas of responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all employees adhere to State and Federal DOT and company safety policies
  • Keep records, logs, and schedules of all the transportation vehicles and drivers that are monitored and controlled by the branch
  • Coordinate the movement of all inbound/outbound equipment and freight from point of origin to destination
  • Consolidate freight orders into truckloads for specific destinations
  • Provide monthly branch reports as required
  • Responsible for monthly inventory of finished goods.
  • Responsible for the purchasing resale finished goods inventory.
  • Hire, train, and monitor all aspects of personnel in the traffic department
  • Maintain control of department expenses
  • Responsible for ensuring driver’s quarterly meetings are completed.
  • Complete Purchase Requisition for any expenditure.
  • Understand contracts and capital projects in the traffic, shipping, and receiving areas of responsibility.
  • Work with vendors on equipment and personnel needs.
  • Monitor all aspects of employee performance
