About The Position

HDR is seeking a Traffic Project Manager to join our team. This role involves serving as a project manager or task leader for transportation planning, traffic engineering analysis, safety analysis, and project development. The position requires developing various traffic studies, preparing plans, specifications, and estimates, and coordinating with clients and subconsultants to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget. The Traffic Project Manager will also work closely with management, implement quality plans, and support junior staff.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 4 years of experience in traffic engineering, OR Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 6 years of experience in traffic engineering.
  • Experience in Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) projects.
  • Experience in traffic safety analysis using IHSDM, ISATE, HSS, and TxDOT tools.
  • Experience in coordination with TxDOT Safety Division for approvals on safety analysis.
  • Experience working with National Safety experts on State Department of Transportation projects.
  • Experience in design and implementation of Data Driven Safety Analyses.
  • Experience with Safe System Approach, Vision Zero Action Plans, Crash Modification Factors, FHWA Proven Safety Countermeasures, and Systemic Safety.
  • Experience with signal warrant analysis, intersection analysis, corridor studies, traffic impact studies.
  • Experience utilizing Synchro for signal timing optimizations and implementations.
  • Experience utilizing VISSIM for calibration and coding for interstates, highways and innovative intersections.
  • Experience utilizing MS Excel and Python for data analysis.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro.
  • Experience with Highway Capacity Software (HCS).
  • Experience with SIDRA Intersection.
  • Experience with OpenRoads.
  • Experience with GEOPAK.
  • Experience with MicroStation.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required.
  • Road Safety Professional (RSP) certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a project manager or task leader for transportation planning, traffic engineering analysis, safety analysis and project development.
  • Develop traffic studies including traffic impact analyses, corridor studies, access management studies, historic/predictive safety analysis, traffic signal timing plans, microscopic simulation modeling, and macroscopic simulation modeling.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and estimates documents including signing and striping, traffic signals, illumination, and Intelligent Traffic Systems for various state and local agencies.
  • Prepare or review scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Write reports and technical memorandums.
  • Coordinate with subconsultants and clients to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Work closely with the Area Manager, Transportation Business Group Manager, Transportation Program Manager, Section Managers, and multiple Project Managers for project reviews.
  • Implement project quality plans.
  • Support and advise junior engineers and technical staff as needed.
