Requirements

  • Undergraduate pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Ability to travel as needed for field reviews, client consultations, on-site inspections, etc.
  • Ability to carry up to 25 pounds of equipment
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to work approximately 8 hours or more per week during the school year and potential to work additional hours during school breaks
  • Interest in a career within Civil, Transportation or Traffic Engineering
  • Strong writing skills

Responsibilities

  • Assist traffic engineering staff as able and qualified with all variety of multimodal traffic engineering tasks including analysis, design, and study reports
  • Conduct safety analysis tasks for transportation and highway planning and design projects
  • Setup and pickup of traffic counters and video cameras for traffic data collection
  • Conduct technical traffic operations analysis using traffic modeling programs
  • Assist with design plans by utilizing CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD and/or Microstation) that support highway and municipal designs of traffic signals, signing and striping, and technology systems
  • Utilize GIS tools to complete data summary graphics and analysis
  • Opportunity to participate in community engagement efforts such as open house events
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and training opportunities, support a variety of project managers and practices with critical data and information for their projects
