About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Traffic & Intelligent Transportation System Manager to be based in Indianapolis, Indiana. This position would involve project management for traffic-related projects with opportunities to lead design on ITS projects. The role includes providing supervision of junior staff for project development and coordination of tasks, performing various management, leadership, and people accountability responsibilities for a specific technical group or department, and having full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments. Responsibilities also include traffic analysis, forecasting, safety studies, traffic simulation, and conceptual planning/design, as well as creating plan sheets, specifications & estimates, technical memoranda, reports, and presentations. The role will also involve working on ITS or emerging technology projects following the systems engineering process, serving in various roles on traffic/ITS projects, and actively participating in the team’s production of technical deliverables. The manager will work with Early in Career staff, helping to review technical work and project documentation, and deliver assigned tasks on schedule and budget, while adhering to AECOM quality standards. Coordination with other discipline groups within AECOM, external clients, and sub-consultants is expected. The role requires performing work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision, independently completing primary design elements, and coordinating with Business Development leaders to capture project opportunities. The position requires acting independently on technical matters, with work at this level usually requiring extensive progressive experience. The role works under minimal supervision, with supervision received being essentially administrative, and assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits. The manager will manage a group of engineers and/or technicians, coordinating the activities of the unit.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus six (6) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience using Traffic and Traffic Simulation Software and design platforms
  • Ability to work as a member of a team or perform independent work as required
  • Good interpersonal skills, good command of the English language both, verbally and written, the ability to express thoughts clearly, good time management skills, and a good attitude towards work

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred minimum 5 years of experience with an emphasis in civil engineering fields such as traffic control design, traffic studies, ITS engineering, traffic staging within Agency and DOT standards and projects
  • Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain PE license in 6 months

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate directly with other discipline groups within AECOM, as well as with external clients and sub-consultants
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision
  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works
  • Coordinate with Business Development leaders to capture project opportunities
  • Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field
