Traffic Engineering Intern - Summer 2027
About The Position
The Traffic Engineering Intern will be mentored by and collaborate with top Engineering associates on our team. The position involves participating in the development of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), signal, lighting, and signing and pavement marking design for a variety of project types. This is an amazing opportunity to gain hands-on experience and a better understanding of Traffic Engineering and Transportation Engineering. RS&H provides interns an opportunity to gain hands-on engineering experience in their specific field of interest. Interns will work alongside top engineers and planners in a fast-paced, professional setting and will gain valuable experiences while applying educational knowledge and skills to a professional environment.
Requirements
- Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Program at an ABET accredited university
- Interest and/or prior experience in the field of transportation/traffic engineering
- Ability to work independently with general supervision as well as within a collaborative team environment
- Willingness to work with different teams to meet project deadlines
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
Nice To Haves
- 3.0 GPA or above
- Prior internship or related experience
- Coursework that includes Transportation and Traffic Engineering
- AutoCAD and/or Microstation experience
- Experience or exposure to CDOT plans preparation and design standards
Responsibilities
- Perform routine calculations requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles
- Prepare and revise plan documents details
- Collect and prepare data for evaluation
- Perform engineering with the use of computer-assisted engineering software and equipment
- Provide support to engineering and project management associates
Benefits
- The pay rate for this position in Colorado ranges from $24 to $27 per hour.
