About The Position

KCE is a civil engineering and surveying firm with over 50 years of experience serving communities in the Lehigh Valley and Pocono Regions. They are looking for a Traffic Engineer to join their Allentown team. This role involves contributing to various municipal and private-sector transportation projects, including traffic impact studies, safety and operational analyses, traffic signal design and timing, signing, pavement markings, and traffic control plans. The position offers the opportunity to work on projects throughout the Lehigh Valley, evaluate real-world traffic conditions, and collaborate with experienced engineers, clients, municipal representatives, and public agencies. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Three or more years of relevant traffic or transportation engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with traffic analysis software such as Synchro, HCS, Vissim, or similar programs.
  • Familiarity with applicable local, state, and federal transportation standards and regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively in both field and office settings and travel locally as project needs require.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound judgment, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania or the ability to obtain one is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct traffic impact studies, safety analyses, capacity analyses, and traffic flow evaluations for municipal and private-sector projects.
  • Prepare technical reports, plans, specifications, and supporting documentation for highway and traffic engineering projects.
  • Evaluate traffic signals, signing, pavement markings, parking restrictions, sight distance, and speed limits.
  • Perform traffic operations analyses using Synchro, HCS, Vissim, or similar software.
  • Develop and evaluate traffic signal designs, warrant studies, and signal timing plans.
  • Conduct field investigations and site visits to collect data and confirm existing conditions.
  • Prepare traffic control plans, construction cost estimates, proposals, and project schedules assigned.
  • Participate in client, municipal, agency, and public meetings and help address technical or community concerns.
  • Coordinate with civil engineers, surveyors, inspectors, planners, and other members of the project team.
  • Support projects through review, approval, bidding, and construction as assigned.
