About The Position

LJB Inc. is seeking an experienced Mid-level Traffic Engineer to support and grow its Transportation Practice in one of its Ohio offices: Dayton, Cleveland, or Columbus. The role involves technical traffic engineering work on projects that help shape safe and efficient transportation systems for communities across Ohio and beyond. The engineer will collaborate with traffic, transportation, and civil engineering colleagues, contribute technical expertise, and help deliver infrastructure solutions. The salary range is $95,000–$135,000, based on experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
At least 4 years of experience.
Experience with tools such as Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, SIDRA, TransModeler, AutoCAD/Open Roads Designer, and Microsoft Office.
Strong technical background.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to build and maintain good client relationships.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.

Nice To Haves

PTOE certification.
Experience working with state DOTs.
Knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual and ODOT Analysis and Traffic Simulation (OATS) Manual.

Responsibilities

Perform traffic impact studies and traffic operations analyses.
Conduct safety studies.
Design signal systems and develop signal timing plans.
Prepare maintenance-of-traffic plans.
Design pavement markings, signage, and highway lighting.
Conduct corridor studies.
Identify project issues and facilitate their resolution.
Analyze situations and identify ways to improve efficiency.
Manage projects or tasks.
Maintain client relationships.
Collaborate with traffic, transportation, and civil engineers in a team setting.
Occasionally visit work sites, monitor project progress, and report findings.
Meet applicable safety requirements when visiting work sites.
Perform other duties as assigned.
