About The Position

Woolpert is hiring a Traffic Engineer to join our dynamic Infrastructure Team at our expanding Florida presence. This position reports to the Engineer Team Lead and is responsible for sitting on our Traffic/Planning group handling projects ranging from traffic impact studies and safety studies to signal/lighting design and maintenance of traffic plans. Qualified candidates will have a BA in Civil Engineering. Priority will be given to candidates who have a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country the job is located.

Requirements

  • Must have a BA in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Must have a minimum of 8+ years of experience
  • Must have a PE and be able to obtain comity in Florida if applicable within 1 year.
  • Must have experience in traffic studies, signal timing, signal and pavement marking plans, maintenance of traffic plans, ITS experience, lighting design and/or other traffic engineering related experience.
  • Ability to work in Civil 3D or Microsoft ORD.
  • Familiarity with traffic analysis software such as HCS or Synchro
  • Familiarity with FDOT standards and procedures is required.
  • Able to work across disciplines both within transportation (roads, structures, etc.) as well as outside of transportation (private development, municipal development, etc.).
  • Ability to work autonomously is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional knowledge of Florida counties and cities is a plus.
  • Have a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification is a plus.
  • Have experience with traffic engineering projects in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky or Texas is a plus.
  • While the job does not require outward facing coordination, it is preferable that a candidate is comfortable speaking with clients and subconsultant.

Responsibilities

  • Manage traffic projects ranging in size and complexity and/or traffic tasks within larger projects.
  • Manage or assist in managing staff plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Develop or assist in the development of traffic signal designs, traffic studies, safety studies, signing and pavement marking designs, and maintenance of traffic plans.
  • Prepare technical reports
  • Prepare outward facing documents that present clear and concise findings to a general audience.
  • Work within the standards and guidance of clients, both in the public and private sectors.
  • Ability to lead traffic projects or tasks, which includes breaking out work to other staff, maintaining budget and schedule, quality review and coordination both internal and external.
  • Ability to train less experienced staff is a plus, but this is not a personnel management role.
  • In addition sales support or industry involvement may be required to assist in growing the region.
